Dr. M. G. Pillai

Dr. M. G. Pillai is an experienced interventional cardiologist associated with Lilavati Hospital and Research Centre in Mumbai. The hospital reports 32 years of overall experience and approximately 20,000 angiographies and 8,000 angioplasties. He received initial coronary intervention training at Cleveland Clinic, Ohio, in 1989 and later undertook training in complex angioplasty and newer devices at centres in the United States. His clinical interests include complex coronary interventions using rotational atherectomy and intravascular ultrasound, particularly left main bifurcation disease. He was among the early practitioners of coronary angioplasty in India and received the Cardiological Society of India's Interventional Cardiologist of the Year award in 1996. His research includes publications on echocardiography, rheumatic tricuspid stenosis, left atrial myxoma, and infective endocarditis.
